About Us
Motherplants is a woman-owned nursery in upstate New York, dedicated to growing plants for green roofs. We specialize in the drought-tolerant, shallow rooted species adapted to extensive and semi-extensive green roofs. We have many species of plug-size plants in stock, and are happy to custom grow any species not in stock, for your project.
We deliver by truck to your jobsite on the date you specify, to ensure the highest plant quality and survival. Small orders can be shipped with your preferred carrier, and customer pickup can be also be arranged. We provide our customers with healthy, well grown plug plants or cuttings, and pre-vegetated roof and wall panels, which establish quickly once installed on the roof properly.
We are committed to running an environmentally sustainable business, which uses renewable energy, environmentally benign growing practices, is a committed member of ourlocal community. We have set aside much of our land for wildlife.
Located in central upstate New York, in hardiness Zone 5, our plants are adapted to cold winters, so are appropriate for planting almost anywhere in the Northeast U.S. or southeastern Canada. Our location also allows convenient plant delivery anywhere in the New York, Pennsylvania, eastern Canada, or New England.
