Some people prefer to buy unrooted cuttings to vegetate their green roof, so we sell them by the pound. Cuttings take less labor time to install than plugs, and are less expensive to buy and ship. Their drawback is that they take a lot of watering and time to establish and begin to cover the roof. Only half to two-thirds of the cuttings will survive, and they are best installed in early spring, when the weather is cool and rainy, and conducive to their survival. Not all green roof species are suitable for planting as unrooted cuttings, but we offer the most successful species as unrooted cuttings for your green roof project.
